MEN'S FASHION: Rules For Men Of Class

FASHION RULES FOR MEN PT 1

I will begin this article with a quote from
Tommy Hilfiger "Have a light touch when it comes to color. Maybe start with just a tie or a shirt. You don't want a colorful shirt, jacket, and pants. You always have to have a balance color, like black, navy, khaki, or white, to temper the brighter tones."

Men are gradually paying more attention to what they wear. As a man the importance of  taking care your appearance and presenting yourself in the best light cannot be overemphasized.

Always remember that ''Clothes maketh a man" and that you will be ''addressed the way you are dressed''. It is important to dress to impress, whether at a job interview, on a first date, or any occasion when you want to present yourself in a favourable light.

TIPS OF THE DAY:
  • Tall men (my favourite, hehheheheheheh) should look to break up the vertical lines and ‘linear’ silhouette produced naturally by their body as this helps to keep the upper and lower halves in proportion.
  • Wide scoop and crew necks on tops and knits will display broad shoulders and widen the chest, while v-necks will draw the eye down and emphasize the neck length.

Below are more tips on What and when to wear:

 Always match belt and shoes
One traditional fashion rule that can't be broken. Match your belt and shoes, simply because it's distracting and distinctly odd-looking to mix the two bold colours ( red and green).

Pay Attention to Style and not labels
It doesn't matter how much money you have, anyone can dress stylishly.
Dressing well is not about how many designer labels you have Style is more  about reflecting your personality which can be perfectly done in clothes that don't cost too much.

Dress appropriately
Its is highly discouraged to dress down for a formal event.  Wherever you go, it's always worth trying to wear the clothes that help you to fit in and perhaps stand out. It's not about breaking a bank, it's about dressing with respect and style.

Suit: your Closet mate
Even if you don't need to wear one for work, every stylish man must own at least one suit. The length of a jacket often depends on many variables, such as personal style, type of outerwear and its function.

It is important that you look to break up the vertical silhouette and balance your frame. Go for a simple single-breasted jacket, paired with flat-fronted trousers in either grey or navy blue. Its classic timelessness will be suitable for weddings or any formal event.

 shoes

You should also own one decent pair of shoes that must not be cheap: cheap shoes look cheap — and everyone can tell they're cheap. And make sure you polish them and invest in a pair of shoe trees to keep them in shape.

Keep your clothes in good condition
A freshly ironed shirt, a clean pair of jeans, a pair of well-polished shoes: you can't go wrong if you keep your clothes looking fresh, clean and well tended.

It's also important to treat your clothes with respect: don't use wire hangers (get some wooden ones), hang your trousers up, and always fold T-shirts and jumpers.

Socks and sandals are never to be worn together
No, don't ever, try to wear socks with sandals. The reason is simple: if it's warm enough to wear sandals, you don't need socks.
